RECYCLING

FREE Paint is the Best Paint

Almost all of the murals I painted at the HOPE Outdoor Gallery were done by using paint left behind by visitors who came to 'tag' one of the walls with their initials and take a picture for social media. Then they just discarded them onto ground since the rest of their downtown plans seldom included carrying a can of spray paint around with them. Definitely a bonus for me, since spray paint is expensive. It was also the perfect way to get into street art without the cost.

HOPE OUTDOOR GALLERY

These Walls Bring Us Together

Here are some of my contributions to the HOPE Outdoor Gallery (HOG) in Austin, Texas. The original location was on Baylor Street, which unfortunately closed on Jan. 2, 2019 to begin its transition toward the future permanent home in East Austin. This outdoor gallery concept became internationally known as the only art park of its kind in the USA and was a top tourist destination for visitors to Austin, all wanting to tag the iconic walls with their initials and capture as an Instagram moment. It was originally developed to provide muralists, street artists, and others the opportunity to display outdoor art driven by inspirational, positive, and educational messaging. Look for future works at the new location when it re-opens across from the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Spring/Summer 2020.
